Story: Cona was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. We are so happy to have her safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Cona is a sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. She’d love to join you snuggled up on the couch, or on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Cona is just looking for someone to be her new best furend and we know that she will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Cona will need an adopter who is committed to setting her up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising her both mentally and physically. She will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive!
What my foster says: Cona loves two things! Playing and cuddles! She's a confident young dog that's ready to go on adventures as your best buddy. She would love to go on hikes, runs, or just play fetch! But, when its just the two of you, she will do her signature flop for belly rubs and pets! Right now she does best with some fetch time each day, or something to get her energy out. Cona is SUUUUPER smart, and would love any challenge, whether that’s training, a puzzle, or a race. She gets along well with my dog, whose a bit older, so they don't play as much as Cona would like. She respects corrections from my dog well. She loves her crate and easily goes in once you give her a treat! Cona is potty trained, however it took her a few days for her to feel comfortable going to the bathroom while on leash. Right now she prefers going in my yard, off leash, rather than when we are on a normal walk, but she’s learning. She does okay on leash and is learning not to pull. Luckily at her weight level, it's not a huge strain. She does well with kids! Polite to them when we are on walks, but would do best in a home with older kids (since she might not know her size and could knock down little kids). All in all, Cona is a sweetie and is going to make a fabulous family member.
The fee to adopt Cona is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, her spay, the collar she’s wearing, her transport to DC and her care in his foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Cona has been seen by a shelter vet and was given a clean bill of health.
