VOLUNTEER FAQ
We are always looking for volunteers who are compassionate and committed to helping save the lives of homeless and abandoned animals. Listed below are our current volunteer needs. However, if you do not see anything that fits your skill set, please reach out—we’d be happy to work with you to find a fulfilling and worthwhile volunteer experience!
MATCHMAKER
Do you love talking to people? Are you the person all of your friends turn to for advice? Do you like to help others? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends is focused on creating a match for all of our potential adopters, Lifesavers, and volunteers. By joining our Matchmaking Team, you will be at the forefront of our mission to ensure that we are building community and lifelong furends. Our Matchmakers are responsible for:
Reviewing all surveys for prospective adopters, Lifesavers, and volunteers.
Conducting the proper checks including contacting landlords and/or veterinarians.
Scheduling and conducting a conversation to ensure that interested adopters understand what is needed to make an ideal match.
Serving as a mentor and guide to help our prospective adopters, Lifesavers, and volunteers find exactly what they are looking for!
SOCIAL MEDIA
Do you love Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other forms of social media? Do you like looking at cute pictures of pups and kittens all day? Are you looking for a way to channel your creative energy? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends is always looking for creative and social-media-savvy individuals to help us promote our animals. Our Social Media Team is responsible for:
Posting pictures of our available furends on all social accounts including Instagram and Facebook.
Reviewing and responding to comments and posts. It is extremely important to us that we engage with all of our fans.
Creating a marketing strategy and plan for the year including posting our difficult-to-adopt animals, coordinating video and photo shoots, and checking in with fosters to ensure that all of our animals are getting the maximum amount of exposure.
ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS
Do you consider yourself to be super organized? Do you love making lists and crossing them off? Are you always walking around with your planner? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends is looking for individuals to help us run an efficient and seamless organization. We need all the help we can get to stay organized and respond to all inquiries as quickly as possible. Our Administrative Team will be responsible for:
Making sure all of our available animals are listed on the website.
Responding to email inquiries submitted to our info@peteyandfurends.org account.
Keeping the content on the website up to date.
Ensuring that our numerous lists and databases are current and up to date.
EVENT PLANNER
Do you love to throw parties? Are you an excellent host? Are you detail oriented? Do you like planning and executing on large and small events? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends hosts various types of events from our weekly adoption events all the way to our annual fundraisers. Our Event Planning Team will be responsible for:
Searching for appropriate venues for our events.
Confirming all details for our events, including tracking which Lifesavers and animals will attend, securing a sufficient number of volunteers to assist, and ensuring we have all of the event materials accounted for.
Making sure that the event information on the website is up to date and accurate.
Coordinating with our core volunteers to plan memorable and fun events!
EVENT SUPPORT
Do you love dogs and cats? Are you looking to spend some time with pups and kittens on the weekends? Do you have experience walking dogs on leash? Do you like helping people find their new best furends? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends hosts events on multiple weekends a month. In order to pull off our events, we need volunteers to help ensure that they are fun and stress-free for everyone! As an Event Supporter you will be responsible for:
Handling one of our dogs for the duration of the event and helping them meet their new potential families - or monitoring our cats!
Meeting with potential families and providing them with information on your assigned dog or cat.
Working with our dogs or cats to brush up on tricks and keep them entertained during the event.
GRANTS & RESEARCH
Do you like scouring the internet? Are you interested in program development? Are you looking to help fundraise to save more lives? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends is always looking to raise more funds to help in our lifesaving efforts. If you have a passion for writing and research, then this is for you. As a member of our Grants and Research Team you will be responsible for:
Searching for grants that we could apply for to raise funds for our animals.
Assisting with the writing and submission of grants and expanding on our fundraising opportunities.
Determining what programs we can expand upon or create to meet the needs of the specific grants.
FUNDRAISING
Do you love raising money? Are you interested in coordinating events? Do you have lots of friends that are interested in animal welfare? If you said yes to any of these questions, then look no further!
Petey and Furends is always looking for new and innovative fundraising opportunities. As a member of our Fundraising Team you will be responsible for:
Researching fundraising opportunities that Petey and Furends can replicate.
Working with individual funders who are interested in helping us to fundraise through Facebook, Instagram, or during our annual Strut Your Mutt event.
Creating a plan for end-of-year fundraising efforts.
Helping coordinate and facilitate fundraising events.
