Story: Mel was rescued from a shelter in Puerto Rico with his brother. We are so happy to have them safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Mel is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Mel is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Mel will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive!

What my foster says: Mel and Manny are typical happy and healthy puppies! They are working on their potty training and making great progress! They enjoy playing with stuffies and chew toys, but they prefer to play with each other or other dogs. They have a lot of energy, but do love to take naps and snuggle once they get tired. We are working on crate training, but currently they sleep in a puppy pen with pee pads and we do naps or short times in the crates for training. They’re confident and playful and will bring a lot of joy to any family!

The fee to adopt Mel is $450. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Mel has been seen by a shelter vet and was given a clean bill of health.
